PORTO ALEGRE • SÃO PAULO
“I haven't been on stage in front of so many people in over two years. My only audience during the pandemic was my dog. I'm happy and honored to be here with you and my bandmates.” This is how Joe Perry, one of the best guitarists in the world, expressed his joy at being part of the Samsung Best of Blues and Rock 2022 lineup.
In free performances on July 15 (Friday) at Parque Farroupilha (Redenção), in Porto Alegre, and on July 17 (Sunday) in the outdoor audience of the Ibirapuera Auditorium, in São Paulo, the legendary rocker performed instrumental shows showcasing riffs and songs that made him a true guitar hero.
In Porto Alegre, the event also featured performances by Yohan Kisser, son of the legendary Andreas Kisser, from the Brazilian band Sepultura, and the musician from Rio Grande do Sul, Ian, ocaradometal, known for bringing information about the metal universe to his more than 500 thousand followers on TikTok.
In addition to Yohan Kisser, the São Paulo program also featured percussionist Lan Lanh from Bahia (Brazil), who launched her latest show on Samsung Best of Blues and Rock.

THE JOE PERRY
PROJECT
Away from the stage for more than two years due to the coronavirus pandemic, guitarist Joe Perry was already preparing to return to action in May 2022 when he received frustrating news.
Part of an extensive Las Vegas tour with Aerosmith was canceled because lead singer Steven Tyler had to check into drug rehab.
Thanks to the hiatus in his schedule, fans in São Paulo and Porto Alegre had the privilege of seeing him play, with free entry, at the 9th edition of Samsung Best of Blues and Rock.
With “The Joe Perry Project”, the artist came to Brazil well accompanied by vocalist Gary Cherone (from the bands Extreme and Van Halen), keyboardist Buck Johnson (Aerosmith and Hollywood Vampires), bassist Chris Wyse (ex-The Cult) and drummer Jason Sutter (ex-New York Dolls and currently touring with singer Cher's band).

YOHAN KISSER
Rarely would young rock musicians have the necessary training or even the courage to play such an eclectic repertoire at a festival where the audience expects to hear blues and rock.
From Pink Floyd to Rush and Frank Zappa, through the universal music of Hermeto Pascoal, to the erudite Igor Stravinski and Johann Strauss, Yohan Kisser surprised the audience at Samsung Best of Blues and Rock 2022.
Yohan Kisser carries on his surname the legacy of his father, Andreas Kisser, guitarist for the band Sepultura, while he traces his own path.
Yohan took to the stage at the festival in Porto Alegre and São Paulo accompanied by Thiago Brisolla (violin), Salomão Sidharta (clarine), William Paiva (drums) and Guto Passos (bass).
When asked if he agrees that rock is already in decline, with its days numbered, Yohan responded: “I think that all pop that we experience, since Michael Jackson, is rock. Ozzy Osbourne is alive. My dad raised three kids through the 2000s by making metal. Rock is fucking dead!”

LAN LANH
Standing out in a musical segment dominated by men, percussionist and composer Lan Lanh brought all her musicality to Samsung Best of Blues and Rock 2022.
Looking back on her career, Lan Lahn began to attract attention in the band Rabo de Saia, which included several women, back in the 1980s. But it was as a percussionist for singer Cássia Eller that she became known nationally. Over the years, partnerships with Tim Maia, Marisa Monte, Carlinhos Brown, Nando Reis, Elba Ramalho and the American Cindy Lauper, increased her prestige.
Accompanied at the festival by fellow percussionist Silvanny Sivuca, known for being part of the band on the TV program “Caldeirão com Mion”, Lan Lanh emphasized the African roots of her music. She began the show with the Afro-samba “Canto de Xangô”, by Baden Powell and Vinicius de Moraes. Then, she revived “Coisa Nº 4”, by Moacir Santos, the great maestro of Afro-Brazilian instrumental music.

Ian is a phenomenon who has participated in around 7 different bands, playing guitar, bass and also as a vocalist.
Multi-instrumentalist, he independently produces his artistic material from his bedroom, the same place that made him famous on TikTok, with an audience made up of more than 70% generation Z.
